Crafting Values: An Interview with Hanan Moser on infusing her Jewelry Brand with Purpose
What does it mean to build a business that truly reflects who you are? For Hanan Moser, the founder of her own jewelry brand https://hananmoser.com, the answer lies in aligning her personal values with every facet of her work. From the materials she chooses to the way she is managing her business, Hanan’s approach to her company is a reflection of her belief in integrity, creativity, and community.
In this interview, Hanan shares her journey of weaving her values into her brand, the challenges she’s faced along the way, and the lessons she’s learned about staying authentic in a competitive industry. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, a creative, or someone who’s curious about living your values in your professional life, her story offers insight and inspiration.
Let’s dive into her world and see how she’s creating not just jewelry, but a legacy built on purpose.
1. Your brand is known for its timeless beauty and elegance.
Can you tell us about the core values that inspire your designs and why they’re so important to you?
Our core values—honesty, fairness, sustainability, encouragement, and quality over
quantity—guide every piece we create. I believe jewelry should be timeless, something that carries meaning not just today but also in the future. We see our pieces as creations that can be passed down through generations, bringing joy and connection across time.
2. Building a successful brand often comes with challenges. Are there any personal beliefs or guiding principles that have helped you stay true to your vision through tough times?
This past year, I’ve learned the importance of staying true to myself. It’s easy to fall into a negative spiral, constantly comparing yourself to others, especially when social media only shows their highlights. I’ve remained authentic, not pretending to be something I’m not. I also find strength in taking small steps and appreciating those wins. This approach gives me the energy to keep moving forward, allowing each small step to build momentum for the bigger ones.
3. What does sustainability mean to you as a creator, and how do you bring that commitment into your work with high-end jewelry?
Sustainability means making responsible choices at each step. As a small business, we produce only by order, use recycled gold, and source our packaging as sustainable as possible. While we’re not perfect, especially with the energy demands of lab-grown diamonds, we work hard to choose materials and processes that align with our values. 80% sustainable, 100% committed.
4. Balancing a demanding business with family life isn’t easy. How do you find that balance, and in what ways do your family values influence your approach to work?
There were times, especially in the early days, when I worked late into the night so that I
could dedicate my daytime hours to my children. With my background in psychiatric nursing, I know how essential mental health is. Finding balance means recognizing when it’s necessary to work hard to achieve something significant while also listening to my inner voice and honoring my body’s need for rest—without feeling guilty about it. This balance helps me stay connected to both my family values and my passion for my work. However it is for sure not an easy ride.
5. In the high-end market, trends come and go. How do you stay true to your brand’s values and timeless style while also staying current and relevant?
Our focus on quality over quantity keeps the brand grounded. I stay true to my values by prioritizing timeless designs that reflect honesty and authenticity. While trends can be inspiring, I only incorporate elements that resonate with my heritage and personal style, ensuring that each piece remains timeless and reflects the shapes I love.
6. Can you share a time when you had to make a difficult decision that tested your values? How did staying true to your beliefs impact your brand’s journey?
In the beginning, when no one knew about my brand, it was tempting to think I needed to cover as much ground as possible by working with various influencers and bloggers. Being an entrepreneur means making mistakes, experimenting, and learning from each step. I ultimately chose a slower, organic path, returning to the principle of staying true to myself and keeping things genuine.
7. Your work reflects an appreciation for beauty and longevity. How do you bring these same qualities into your daily life, and are there routines or habits that help keep you grounded?
I find beauty in small, meaningful moments and make time for things that inspire
me—whether it’s enjoying a coffee in the sun in my garden, spending time with family,
illustrating for myself, or going to a singing class. When I feel a sense of inner contentment, my mind feels uplifted, which in turn is reflected in my work.
8. What advice would you give to others who want to create a brand rooted in their personal values? How can they bring their beliefs into their business in a way that feels real and lasting?
My advice is to stay honest, fair, and committed to quality. Building a brand on real values means being transparent and selective with materials and practices. Clients feel this authenticity, and it fosters long-lasting trust. Create a business that you believe in, and it will resonate with others just as strongly.
